In his “Declaration and Address” Thomas Campbell says “You desire union in Christ with all them that love him; so do we.” The union we share in Christ is on glorious public display each time we gather for corporate worship. This is no secret meeting. It is a joyous celebration for all the world to see. We are united in Christ; we worship our Lord; we sing praises to heaven; and, we invite all persons to join us is this sublime unity.
Worship In Song And Communion
One of the ways that we are connected to all Christians everywhere, and for all time, is our exuberant singing of hymns. Whether with instruments accompanying, or a capella, churches of the Stone-Campbell movement have always enjoyed singing praises to God for all his blessings. The “Unity Hymn” is one song that points to our deep desire for the harmonious living of all persons of faith. In preparing for worship on October 4, 2009 you will also want to consult the communion meditations in One Church and the unique resource provided by Clinton Holloway in Lest We Forget.
